Barbara Suplita

Barbara Suplita

always drawn to creativity, pursued an art degree and received a B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University. In the early years, she focused on mosaic work. Branching out, she now paints furniture, teaches classes, and oversees Mill Creek Mischief’s retail end which includes furniture, painted furniture, home decor, and the Dixie Belle line of chalk paint. She loves sharing her experience and passion with small classes, giving students individual attention and helping them find their creativity, while they learn new skills and take a rough piece of furniture and bring it to a new vibrant life. Joe Suplita

ran around with a toolbox when he was a little kid. As a teenager, he worked with his uncle fixing furniture. As an adult, for 32 years, along with handling furniture restoration and estimates, he ran the business end of My Home Shop in Fairfax, VA. Now at Mill Creek Mischief, you can find Joe doing everything from welding, caning, veneer work, creating slip seats, giving furniture a distressed look with milk paint, along with restoring your heirloom pieces. He has sawdust in his veins and will tackle just about any project. Have a piece of furniture for Joe to fix? Send him a picture, and he’ll get in touch!
